GOWN:
Gowns are outdated but not out of fashion. It is a demure
dress that may come up to the calves or extend up to the ankles
and may sometimes sweep the floor. A wedding gown is a typical
example. It also improvises as a nightwear worn with matching
jacket going by the name of peignoir-set.
HOSIERY: These refer
to stockings that ride up to the middle of the thighs. In
yester years these were kept in place by being clipped on
to garters but today the work is done by elastic tops. Pantyhoses
are combinations of panties and stockings. The Control panty
hose has additional support to give a firm slim look to the
stomach and bottoms. The Fishnet-hose has a looser weave than
the original fish-net having a diamond pattern akin to the
net of the fisherman.
Fencenet-hose is like the fish-net but
the weave is more loose and the diamond patterns consequently
larger. In French or lace panty hose the briefs on top are
made from peep-through lace. The Lace-top-stockings hose are
decorated with a lace border at the edge of the stockings
instead of one solid band. The Suspender-hose has parts snipped
off to make it look like stockings and garters. These can
be worn with or without panties – preferably without
during amorous moments. These suspender hoses and crotch-less
panty hoses are very convenient for a quick tryst.
JACQUARD: It is a kind
of fabric that has the design woven in to it and not printed
on it.
LYCRA: It is the trademark
of Dupont for a kind of lustrous, stretchable elastic material
or spandex.
MARABOU: Taking its
name from a type of stork these are fluffy pom-poms used to
decorate and trim footwear like pumps as well as lingerie.
MERRY WIDOW: It takes
its name from a famous waltz and movie. In the world of garments
and fabrics it is a corset that does not have straps. For
breast support there are half cups and long garters. Hooks
and or eye fasteners are used to fix it at the back of the
woman.
MICROFIBER : This ultra
fine fabric is artificially woven and mimes the appearance
of natural fibers. Although artificial it allows air to pass
and the wearer does not feel discomfort. The fabric breathes.
The threads are very sinuous and soft giving the look of exotic
silky material. The fabric takes on many colours that are
sharp and clear. The material is extremely durable.
OPAQUE: An opaque fabric
is not transparent and yet does not totally block the vision
– something tantalizingly in between.
